It was a hot August morning in Liberty Square Park, and the Texas sun was already blazing high in the sky. I had just set up my camera, waiting for Tanner M., a senior from the John Cooper School, Class of 2025, to arrive. As I spotted him walking toward me, I couldn't help but notice his confident stride and the way his tan slacks and navy blue long-sleeved shirt complemented his athletic build. Tanner looked every bit the handsome, determined young man he was known to be, his smile easy and full of a quiet strength. Despite the heat, there was a relaxed, self-assured air about him that set the perfect tone for the shoot.
We decided to start near the old pine tree, where the morning light filtered softly through the pine needles, casting dappled shadows across the grass. Tanner moved with a natural ease, his experience as a football player evident in his grounded stance and fluid movements. Just a few weeks earlier, he had competed at the 2024 Kohl's Future Stars Invitational, showcasing impressive ball-striking skills and a consistent, focused approach. His performance on the field translated beautifully to the lens; every pose captured his poised energy and quiet determination. He laughed as we joked between shots, and his smile—genuine and warm—brought a vibrant energy to each frame.
As we wrapped up the session, I couldn’t help but reflect on how Tanner embodied both confidence and humility, qualities that would surely serve him well both on and off the field. His future seemed as bright as the morning sun that now stood high above us. In that brief time, I saw not just a talented athlete but a young man ready to face the world with grace and grit. The camera loved him, but more importantly, it was clear that Tanner was comfortable in his own skin, standing proudly at the intersection of his youth and a promising future.
