Alena’s Studio Portraits in Colorful Light
Here’s another set of portraits we created together with Alena. This time she wanted to experiment with the gelled lights and different colors. I love the mysterious and thoughtful mood of these photographs, it reflects Alena’s inner world. Which one would you select for the larger wall art?

Halloween Session for Alena and Aekam
Halloween is my favorite holiday in the fall. This time I met two very friendly ghosts who didn’t mind posing for the camera. ))
A portrait session in a hotel lobby
I was reminded today of a hotel shoot we did with Alena last summer in Washington DC. The city was empty and the hotel atrium was completely desolate. It seemed like a perfect opportunity to do a spontaneous mini-session. We utilised the midday sun diffused by the hotel roof and the on-camera flash to get a variety of shots within a short period of time.
I really like the results but if I were doing a personal branding shoot for a client, I would have used a couple of softboxes of white umbrellas to achieve the complete feeling of natural light and of course would shoot tethered and take my time to get each shot absolutely perfect.
A 10-min fall mini-session, natural light only
I needed to do a 10-min fall mini-session photo challenge, natural light only, any place, any time. So I asked my favorite model in the world to pose for me in our backyard. It was raining really hard this week but there was a short window yesterday when we could go outside and do it. Love these impromptu moments.
Portraits on the go: Artists Palette of Death Valley
I always look forward to using my camera on our trips, and not only to capture the memories of the beautiful places we visit. It’s a great opportunity for practicing quick reaction to a photogenic situation, focusing fast, and choosing your composition before your family loses patience and runs away to the next point of interest.
Lacrosse Fan
Lacrosse is Alena’s favorite sport. She fell in love with it last spring, right before the lockdown, and it was one of the things that kept her motivated to go outside, to use the new free time and to learn new skills. I’m really proud of what you've achieved in the past 12 months.
Portraits on the go: Death Valley National Park, California
Our favorite pastime as a family is traveling and documenting what we see. These portraits are from our latest trip to Death Valley in California where we hiked from Zabriskie Point into the desert.
Alena and her photobombing dog
Our dog is a notorious photobomber. When he thinks my daughter and I have spent enough time in my studio, he just lies down in front of the camera and won’t budge. This is a rare occasion when I can actually photograph him in a still position, not running, jumping, barking, or chasing a chipmunk.
